Brent Newell, MD, is a board certified Physiatrist. He brings over 20 years of expert non-surgical care to our team at Huntsville Hospital’s Spine & Neuro Center.
Dr. Newell earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. He completed a one-year Preliminary Internal Medicine internship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, followed by a three-year residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Missouri.
Dr. Newell worked as a Physiatrist in Herrin, Illinois, for 15 years before joining the Spine & Neuro team in 2016.
He provides non-surgical treatments to relieve back, neck, muscle, joint or nerve pain, using EMG studies to pinpoint where or why a patient might have weakness or pain in their back and extremities. His specialties include:
- Outpatient injections to manage chronic back pain
- Electrodiagnostic testing
- Cervical, thoracic and lumbar epidural steroid injections for lower back pain and sciatica
- Radiofrequency ablation
Dr. Newell’s professional affiliations include the North American Spine Society, International Spine Intervention Society, and American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
In his spare time, Dr. Newell and his wife are active in their church and community.
