MurrayRhett Murray, MD, FACS, is a board certified Neurosurgeon with more than 30 years of experience at Huntsville Hospital’s Spine & Neuro Center. He has served the residents of Huntsville and surrounding areas since 1992.
Dr. Murray received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. He continued his medical specialty training at UAB with a one-year internship in General Surgery, followed by a six-year residency in Neurosurgery during which he was selected Chief Resident.
Dr. Murray specializes in skull-based tumors, cerebrovascular surgery, complex spine and peripheral nerve surgery. He treats spine and brain issues such as:

- Degenerative disc diseases
- Spinal fractures
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Brain tumors

He has a passion for spine and brain health and strives to give his patients the best chance at positive outcomes.
Dr. Murray’s many professional affiliations include: Association of American Physician and Surgeons; North American Spine Society; South Neurological Society; American College of Surgeons; Section on Neurotrauma and Critical Care- American Association of Neurological Surgeons; Section on Pain- American Association of Neurological Surgeons; Neurosurgical Society of Alabama; Medical Association of the State of Alabama; Madison County Medical Society; American Association of Neurological Surgeons; and ProAssurance Company of Alabama’s Claims and Underwriting Committee. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor for The University of Alabama School of Medicine - Huntsville.
In his spare time, Dr. Murray enjoys traveling with his wife, going to Alabama football games, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
