More About Dr.

Banks

Jason Banks, MD, is a board certified Neurosurgeon. A Huntsville native, Dr. Banks is devoted to bringing expert spine, brain and neck care to the Rocket City and surrounding communities.

Dr. Banks earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham and then completed a one-year rotation in General Surgery at UAB. He remained at UAB for his six-year Neurological Surgery residency.

Dr. Banks specializes in back surgery, thoracic and lumbar conditions, and cranial and peripheral nerve treatments. He treats spine and brain issues such as:

  • Lower back and neck pain
  • Herniated discs
  • Degenerative disc diseases
  • Spinal fractures
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Brain tumors
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Spondylolistheses
  • Pituitary tumor resection
  • Spine and brain trauma

“Passionate” and “precise” are two words often used to describe Dr. Banks. He prefers to try alternative spine treatments before recommending surgery. If surgery is necessary, he uses minimally-invasive procedures to help patients bounce back faster.

Dr. Banks’ professional affiliations include: North American Spine Society; Neurosurgical Society of Alabama; Medical Association of the State of Alabama; Madison County Medical Society; Congress of Neurosurgeons; and American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor for The University of Alabama School of Medicine - Huntsville.

In his spare time, Dr. Banks enjoys farming and swimming. His favorite pastime, though, is watching his daughter compete in swim meets and spending time with his wife. He tries to squeeze in a quick soccer game when he can, too.
